What we build

The space around your house gets used every day: when you park, when you have a barbecue, on the way to the front door. We plan it with you so that it looks good, is safe to walk on and stays dry when it rains.

  • Forecourts and driveways
  • Garden patios and terraces
  • Outdoor steps and paths
  • Retaining walls and garden walls
  • Slab paving and block paving

What lies beneath

The ground

Whether a surface lasts is decided below it: excavation, sub-base and compaction. We build it up so that nothing settles.

Falls and drainage

Every surface needs a fall away from the house and a channel or gully to take the water. We plan this in from the start.

How it works

From the first conversation to the finished job. We visit you on site for the planning.

  1. Site visit

We look at the ground, access and drainage and talk through what you would like.

  2. Quote

You get a quote with suggested materials. We’re happy to show you samples.

  3. Building

We do the excavation, sub-base, walls and surfaces with our own tradespeople.

  4. Handover

We tidy up, clean the surfaces and give you tips on looking after them.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for this?

From spring to autumn. Concrete and mortar need temperatures above freezing. Plan early, as the season gets busy.

Does a retaining wall need a permit?

Depending on its height and location, yes. The municipality sets the rules. We clarify this with you before we quote.

Natural stone or concrete?

Natural stone has character and ages beautifully. Concrete slabs are uniform and usually cheaper. We’ll show you samples of both.

When can I use the new surface?

Paving slabs can usually be walked on straight away. With concrete and fresh mortar, it takes a few days before a car can drive on it.
